A text message conversation between a medical resident and an attending physician. The attending demands the resident return to the hospital at 1:30 PM despite the resident explaining that didactics, which are protected under ACGME regulations, may run until 4 PM. The attending states that if there is a problem, the resident’s chief should call them. The exchange highlights potential disregard for ACGME-mandated protected didactic time in medical residency training.

Screenshot of Daniel Millsap’s unanswered March 10, 2025 email to Dr. James Falterman regarding January 2025 payroll certification discrepancies and unauthorized leave classification.

On March 10, 2025, I contacted Dr. James Falterman—Associate Dean and DIO—regarding unresolved discrepancies in my January payroll certification. Despite being removed from duty on January 7 and placed on authorized leave (per Marilyn Marshall’s own February 13 email), I was still listed as “Active” for payroll purposes. This message, like many before it, received no response. The questions were simple: who authorized the misclassification, when was it submitted, and what is the policy for retroactive correction? To date: silence.
